Mona Juul, leader of the Conservative party, has refrained from explicitly ruling out the possibility of joining a government led by Social Democratic Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, a stance that diverges from the clear rejections issued by Liberal Alliance, Danmarksdemokraterne, and Dansk Folkeparti.
During a recent bourgeois convention in Fredericia, Juul emphasized her focus on conservative politics and her willingness to work where she can achieve the most policy impact. This statement comes as the four parties aimed to display unity and present a joint bourgeois project, potentially enticing Venstre back into the blue bloc.
When questioned during a press conference at the convention about whether they would consider sitting in government with Mette Frederiksen, Alex Vanopslagh (LA), Inger Støjberg (DD), and Morten Messerschmidt (DF) all unequivocally answered “no.” Juul, however, did not provide such a definitive response, reiterating that she is “not an ultimate person.”
Alex Vanopslagh suggested that the media is overly concerned with the question of who will be Prime Minister after the next election, which must be held by October 2026. He stressed the importance of determining how to identify a leader for a bourgeois government.
While De Konservative and DF have publicly supported Venstre leader Troels Lund Poulsen as the potential blue Prime Minister candidate, LA and DD have been more reserved. Troels Lund Poulsen has not yet declared himself as a Prime Minister candidate, leaving Mette Frederiksen as the only current declared candidate.
