Thisted Town Hall’s Citizen Service is closed for the upcoming week due to an attempted arson attack Sunday night. The municipality announced the closure on its Facebook page, citing damage from the incident.
The fire, though quickly extinguished, caused soot and smoke damage throughout the building, necessitating the closure during week 22. According to Mikkel Alstrup, head of IT, digitization, and Citizen Service, the incident involved a cobblestone thrown through the main entrance, followed by a fire being started in the lobby.
Citizens with scheduled appointments at Citizen Service will receive cancellation notifications via SMS. The municipality advises individuals with urgent passport, MitID, or driver’s license issues to contact them directly.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the attempted arson.
