Chechen Man Sentenced for Assault, Rape, and Expulsion from Denmark

A 41-year-old Chechen man has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison and ordered to be expelled from Denmark with a 12-year entry ban after being found guilty of multiple counts of aggravated assault, psychological violence, threats, and rape. The ruling was delivered by the Court in Lyngby on Monday.

The court’s decision highlighted the particularly aggravated nature of the violence and the credibility of the testimonies from the man’s ex-wife and children. The man was found partially guilty on six counts, including severe physical and psychological violence and threats against his former wife and four children, in addition to rape.

The court emphasized the severity of the rape. The victim testified that she was subjected to strangulation and slapping, forcing her to comply despite her repeated reluctance.

The defense attorney immediately appealed the verdict to the High Court, including the decision to continue the man’s custody. The crimes occurred over a four-year period from 2018 to 2022.
