Casper Olesen will take over as the director of KIF Kolding on July 1st, following the dismissal of Christian Hjermind in April. The handball club, recently relegated from the Men’s League, announced the appointment in a press release.
Olesen is expected to spearhead an “offensive development” for the club. Chairman Mads Aarestrup stated that Olesen’s ideas align with Kolding’s traditions.
Olesen emphasized the importance of honesty and self-awareness in realizing the club’s potential. He believes KIF Kolding possesses a unique advantage due to its history, facilities, and local support.
The announcement comes after a period of change for the club. Two days after their relegation was confirmed, KIF Kolding announced Hjermind’s departure, citing the need for a fresh start and reconstruction. Jan Ulsø Madsen, the chairman at the time, also resigned, mentioning differing opinions within the board regarding the club’s future direction.
KIF Kolding holds the record for the most Danish championships and had a 41-year streak in the top handball league.
