Brøndby has finalized the permanent transfer of Polish midfielder Mateusz Kowalczyk to GKS Katowice. The Superliga club announced the move on its website, confirming Kowalczyk’s departure with immediate effect after a loan spell with the Polish side.
Kowalczyk, 21, joined Brøndby in the summer of 2023 from LKS Lodz on a four-year contract. During his time with the Danish club, he made only three brief appearances, totaling 47 minutes of playing time. However, he found more success during his loan to GKS Katowice, where he played 31 games in the recently concluded season and scored three goals.
Football director Benjamin Schmedes commented on the transfer, stating that Kowalczyk is a talented player who unfortunately did not receive the playing time that was hoped for at Brøndby. Schmedes also noted that GKS Katowice exercised its option to make the transfer permanent, wishing Kowalczyk the best in his future development with the Polish club.
