TV 2’s headquarters in Odense, Denmark, was evacuated Thursday following a bomb threat received via email. Funen Police responded to the threat at the Kvægtorvet location, initiating a thorough search of the building with bomb dogs.
The police investigation, which included the closure of Rugårdsvej at Kvægtorvet, concluded at 5:15 PM with no suspicious items found. The road has since been reopened to traffic.
According to Funen Police, the investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible for the bomb threat.
Police Commissioner Kenneth Taanquist stated the threat was motivated by dissatisfaction with media coverage of the conflict in the Middle East. The email indicated the bomb was set to detonate around noon, prompting a comprehensive search.
Editor-in-chief at TV 2 News, Anne Mette Svane, acknowledged the media outlet is accustomed to criticism from various perspectives. Svane emphasized the importance of maintaining neutral, critical, and independent journalism, adding that TV 2 is taking the situation calmly, despite the unusual nature of such events in Denmark.
