Bojana Popovic, the former star player and coach, will join Helle Thomsen as the assistant coach for the Danish women’s national handball team. The appointment, announced on the DanskHåndbold website, sees Popovic contracted until December 31, 2026.

Popovic will combine her duties with the Danish national team with her existing role as head coach of ŽRK Budućnost in Montenegro. This dual role allows her to continue developing her coaching career on both the international and club levels.

Helle Thomsen expressed her enthusiasm for the appointment, highlighting Popovic’s engagement and temperament. Thomsen emphasized the value of Popovic’s experience in Eastern European handball, citing the passion and energy she brings from the Balkan region. She believes this will complement the Scandinavian culture within the Danish team.

Thomsen stated she has had contact with Bojana for some years, and looks forward to working with her.
