Arrest Made in Stabbing Incident Near Aalborg Motorway Merge

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred Friday evening near the E45 and E39 motorway merge north of Aalborg. The incident left a 29-year-old man seriously injured.

North Jutland Police initiated a significant investigation to determine the sequence of events. The suspect was apprehended in the immediate vicinity of the crime scene.

Police were initially dispatched to the location at 9:41 PM in response to a reported traffic accident. Upon arrival, they discovered that a man had been stabbed. According to Duty Officer Lau Larsen, the 29-year-old victim was found in the emergency lane with severe stab wounds.

Investigators believe the traffic accident and the stabbing are linked. The working theory is that two vehicles were involved in a road rage incident, possibly pressuring each other or colliding. Separate reports were then made regarding the accident and the stabbing. At the time of the initial report, it was unclear if the victim himself had reported the stabbing.

Authorities do not suspect alcohol involvement.

Shortly after 6 AM on Saturday, police appealed to the public for information. They are seeking witnesses who observed two or more vehicles stopped at the motorway merging point between 9:30 PM and 9:40 PM. Witnesses are urged to contact the police at 114.

The motorway was temporarily closed to allow for searches, including the use of dog patrols. The motorway reopened at 12:30 AM on Saturday, and the vehicles involved have been removed.
