Denmark and Ukraine have signed an agreement enabling Ukrainian defense companies to establish production facilities within Denmark, marking a significant step in defense cooperation between the two nations. This agreement aims to bolster both countries’ security and combat capabilities by integrating their defense industries.
The agreement, formalized during a NATO summit in The Hague, Netherlands, paves the way for closer collaboration between Danish and Ukrainian defense firms. Denmark is allocating DKK 500 million to facilitate the establishment of a Ukrainian defense industry within its borders.
Danish Minister of Defence Troels Lund Poulsen emphasized the mutual benefits of the agreement, highlighting that it will provide Danish defense companies with access to advanced technologies and valuable experiences from Ukraine. Poulsen stated that Denmark is leading the way in supporting Ukraine by providing this production opportunity.
Ukrainian Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov echoed this sentiment, stating that the agreement lays the foundation for Danish-Ukrainian cooperation for decades to come.
The Danish government had previously expressed its willingness to host Ukrainian arms manufacturers, with Poulsen mentioning the intention to welcome companies specializing in drone and defense equipment production. The move aims to secure a consistent supply line for Ukrainian troops while simultaneously strengthening Denmark’s own defense capabilities.
Details regarding the specific location of production facilities and the types of equipment to be manufactured have not yet been disclosed.
