Additional Firefighters Called to Combat Skagen Dune Plantation Fire

Sixty firefighters and 20 vehicles are currently battling a large fire at Skagen Dune Plantation, with an additional 12 firefighters and an amphibious vehicle being called in to assist. The fire, which started around 2 p.m., remains uncontrolled as of 7 p.m.

Firefighters are focused on containing the blaze within an area of 300 meters by 900 meters (270,000 square meters) and preventing its spread. They are creating water-soaked “stopping lines,” belts of land five to ten meters wide, to halt the fire’s progress, especially towards the west where a railway is located.

Incident commander Bo Isaksen from North Jutland Emergency Services, reports the terrain is very inaccessible. Fortunately, the wind speed is decreasing this evening, aiding firefighting efforts. Isaksen expressed hope that the fire would be brought under control this evening.
