AaB has announced the departure of both sporting director James Gow and head coach Kristoffer Wichmann following the club’s relegation from the Superliga. The decision comes after a critical analysis of the season’s performance.
The board of directors and James Gow mutually agreed to terminate their cooperation. Wichmann, who was appointed on April 23rd with a contract extending to the summer of 2027, is also leaving the club due to a difference in vision for the future.
Chairman of the board Jan Peters stated in a press release that the board concluded that the parties were unable to find common ground, leading to the decision to terminate Wichmann’s contract.
AaB has initiated the search for a new sporting director and head coach with immediate effect. Wichmann managed the team for only the final five games of the season, securing just one point in the relegation play-offs. James Gow had been with the club since 2023 and served as sporting director from July 2024, recently facing criticism from fans.
