A.P. Møller Foundation Donates Millions to Establish Danish Football Centers

The Danish Football Association (DBU) will establish nine regional football centers thanks to a donation of up to 200 million kroner from the A.P. Møller Foundation. These centers aim to become regional hubs for training, development, and education, aligning with the DBU’s “All of Denmark’s Clubhouse” project.

According to DBU Chairman Jesper Møller, the donation is received with “great joy and gratitude.”

The goal is to ensure that everyone in Denmark has access to a regional football center within approximately one hour of travel, regardless of their location.

The football centers will be utilized for testing and disseminating new training methods. They will also equip volunteer coaches and leaders with the necessary skills for their roles.

Furthermore, the centers will provide a framework for training and inspiration visits for regional children’s and youth teams, benefiting grassroots football across Denmark.

Ane Mærsk Mc-Kinney Uggla, Chairman of the A.P. Møller Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s tradition of supporting “good frameworks for children and young people’s enjoyment of movement, sports, and association life.” She hopes that the new centers, with their innovative training grounds and clubhouses, will contribute positively.

As of now, a specific timeline for the completion of the football centers has not been determined.
