Expected Traffic Congestion on Danish Roads During Ascension Day Holiday

Heavy traffic and longer travel times are anticipated on major Danish roads due to the upcoming Ascension Day holiday weekend. The Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) advises travelers to be prepared for potential delays, particularly on Wednesday and Sunday.

Wednesday is expected to be one of the busiest travel days of the year. Holiday traffic will likely combine with the afternoon rush hour, leading to queues and extended travel times between 2 PM and 7 PM, primarily heading away from the capital region towards Jutland.

Ascension Day, Thursday, may also experience minor traffic congestion between 11 AM and 2 PM. While Friday and Saturday are predicted to have relatively smooth traffic flow, Sunday will likely see a surge in return traffic.

The peak of return traffic is expected on Sunday between 11 AM and 4 PM. The Danish Road Directorate emphasizes that unforeseen events like accidents or bad weather can always cause delays, especially with increased traffic volume.

Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on the traffic situation before and during their journeys. Staying informed can help avoid congestion and ensure a safer travel experience.
