South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police have responded to 109 reports related to heavy rainfall that impacted Denmark earlier this week. The reports include incidents such as waterlogged roads, displaced manhole covers, and flooded residences.
The heavy rainfall has caused significant disruptions across the region. Authorities have closed Spodsbjergvej from Maribo towards Tårs between Tårs and Nakskov due to flooding. Motorists are also advised to exercise caution on motorway E47 from Sakskøbing towards Rødby between Våbensted and Lysmose, where water accumulation has led to the closure of the right lane. Additionally, there are warnings regarding water on Præstø Landevej between Hammer-Torup and Mogenstrup, located further north in the police district.
The police station in Slagelse also experienced water intrusion in some basement areas. The Emergency Management Agency was called in to pump the water out. Authorities confirmed that the incident did not disrupt police operations.
Falster experienced particularly heavy rainfall, with over 100 millimeters recorded in a 24-hour period. Møn also experienced substantial rainfall, with the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) reporting 150 millimeters in 24 hours by Tuesday afternoon. To put this in perspective, the average rainfall for the entire month of July is typically 65.8 millimeters.
As of Wednesday morning, there have been no reports of personal injuries related to the weather events.
