The historic Helmerhus building, which overlooks Copenhagen’s City Hall Square, is set to reopen in late summer 2026 after undergoing extensive renovations. The building will feature a mix of office spaces, apartments, shops, restaurants, and cafes.
Approximately 9,000 square meters of the building’s office space, about 60 percent, will be occupied by ordnung, a co-working company. Ordnung plans to create an “exclusive” co-working environment within the property.
The renovation of Helmerhus, which began in 2021 and is expected to last until 2026, is being led by Henning Larsen Architects. The architectural firm aims to restore the building’s external symmetry, open it towards City Hall Square, and create modern workspaces that blend with the building’s history.
Anders Chr. Andersen, CEO of ordnung, stated that the location provides a unique opportunity to offer businesses of all sizes a modern and flexible workspace with access to top-notch facilities. The building, originally designed by Henrik Hagemann and Knud Arne Petersen and known as the “Utrecht building,” was previously owned by Alm. Brand until its sale in January 2021 to German property developer AM Alpha for nearly 750 million kroner. Its value was estimated at around 741 million kroner at the end of 2021.
