AaB has reached an agreement with a foreign club for the sale of striker Mathias Jørgensen, according to a stock exchange announcement made by the Superliga relegated team on Tuesday. This announcement follows an earlier statement from AaB that negotiations with a foreign club had resumed.
The sale of Jørgensen is expected to impact AaB’s financial results for the year, with the club now anticipating a deficit in the range of 0-10 million kroner. This is an improvement from the previously projected deficit of 15-25 million kroner. AaB intends to invest in its academy and squad, with the goal of finishing at the top of the 1st division.
Mathias Jørgensen has been with AaB since February 1, 2024, after transferring from Esbjerg fB. He has played 52 games for the club, scoring 27 goals. Jørgensen played a significant role in the team’s promotion during the spring of 2024, after the club was in the 1st division. Despite his efforts, he could not prevent AaB’s subsequent relegation from the Superliga.
During the relegation season, Jørgensen served as AaB’s captain. However, it was reported in June that Jørgensen had discarded the captain’s armband. In the recent 1st division season opener against Kolding IF, Frederik Børsting wore the armband, while Jørgensen played the entire match.
