Several Danish cities experienced cloudbursts on Tuesday, with the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) issuing warnings for heavy rain and local cloudbursts across much of the country.
Zealand cities, including Holbæk and Gundsømagle, were impacted by the intense rainfall, according to DMI’s post on X. Further south, Køge and Nakskov also experienced significant precipitation, with reports of two double cloudbursts near these cities.
Specifically, the DMI measuring station in Tessebølle, south of Køge, recorded 34.6 millimeters of precipitation in 30 minutes. At Langø near Nakskov, the meter registered 36.4 millimeters, according to DR. DMI defines a cloudburst as precipitation exceeding 15 millimeters in 30 minutes.
Cloudbursts were also reported over the Limfjord, according to multiple media outlets.
DMI issued two category 1 warnings, defined as “violent weather,” advising residents to be aware of how the weather could affect their surroundings and outdoor activities. The first warning was in effect from 10 AM to 6 PM on Tuesday, and the second is valid from 6 PM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday.
Looking ahead, DMI forecasts unstable weather with showers, rain, and thunder for the remainder of the summer, with slightly above-normal precipitation expected for weeks 30, 31, and 32.
Despite the anticipated rain, temperatures are expected to range between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius for the next three weeks. Week 30 will feature variable weather with rain, showers, and sunny periods, while the following two weeks will see a mix of sun and rain.
