Man Pleads Not Guilty to Attempting to Run Over Police Officers in Asnæs

A 48-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempting to subject officers to aggravated violence by running them over with his car in Asnæs on Saturday evening. The man entered his plea during a preliminary hearing at the Roskilde Court on Sunday afternoon.

The incident resulted in the man being shot in the collarbone by police. He appeared in court with a bandage on the left side of his neck, with no other visible signs of injury. According to the charges, the shooting occurred after the second alleged attempted hit-and-run. An officer drew his gun and fired two shots at the man.

The man claims that he was initially hit by the officers, prompting him to try to escape in his car. He managed to evade the initial patrol car, but encountered another patrol car nearby. He then drove into a field where his car became stuck, but he was able to reverse it out.

The charge specifies that he then allegedly reversed toward an officer who had exited the patrol car. The officer stated that he had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit. Following this incident, the officer drew his service weapon and fired two shots, with one hitting the man in the collarbone.
