Firefighters are continuing their efforts to completely extinguish the fire that has been burning in Skagen Klitplantage since Monday afternoon. Although the fire is under control, the challenging terrain is prolonging the process.
The incident commander at North Jutland Emergency Services, Bo Isaksen, explained that the hilly landscape is making it difficult to move equipment and hoses, thus slowing down the final extinguishing efforts. “We are still working in the area. It is a long process,” he stated, emphasizing the inaccessibility of the terrain.
The wildfire initially broke out on Monday afternoon, prompting authorities to advise civilians to avoid the area. Later that day, emergency services managed to bring the fire under control.
However, persistent smoke and remaining hotspots within the plantation require further attention from firefighters. The incident commander noted that the exact timeline for the completion of the extinguishing work remains uncertain.
