ATP Announces Increased Life Expectancy for Danish Men

Danish men can anticipate living longer than previously expected, according to ATP, the Danish pension fund. The company has updated its lifespan model based on recent data, revealing a notable increase in life expectancy for both men and women.

The life expectancy for 67-year-old men has increased by five months in the past year. This is a significant rise, representing only the second time in three decades that male life expectancy has increased so substantially in a single year. Women of the same age can expect to live 2.6 months longer.

Although both genders are living longer, women are still projected to have a longer lifespan overall. A 67-year-old man is now expected to live to 84.2 years, while a 67-year-old woman is expected to live to 86.7 years on average.

Life expectancy figures experienced a dip during and immediately following the corona epidemic. However, life expectancy increased in both 2023 and 2024, returning to levels seen in 2020.

ATP anticipates that life expectancy will continue to rise in the future. While the rate of increase may be slower than it was a decade ago, the trend of increasing lifespans is expected to continue.

ATP has developed a lifespan calculator based on its model. By entering birth year and gender, individuals can obtain a statistical estimate of their expected lifespan.
