Danish Miniseries “The Reservation” Among Netflix’s Most Watched Series

The Danish miniseries “Secrets We Keep,” originally titled “Reservatet,” has become a significant hit for Netflix, ranking as one of the most-watched series in the first half of the year. Released on May 15th, the series has garnered nearly 34 million views in just two months, securing the 21st position among the platform’s most popular shows.

Netflix highlighted the success of the Danish series in its recent financial report, noting the increasing popularity of Scandinavian content. The series is set in an affluent community north of Copenhagen and revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a Filipino au pair.

According to Netflix, content in languages other than English is gaining traction, accounting for over a third of total views between January and June. The British series “Adolescence” leads the list with almost 145 million views, followed by seasons two and three of the South Korean series “Squid Game,” with 117 million and 72 million views, respectively.

Another Danish series, “Dept Q,” Netflix’s adaptation of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Department Q series, has also performed well, with 25 million views since its release on May 29th, placing it at number 32 on the list.

In its financial report for the second quarter, Netflix reported a 16 percent increase in revenue compared to the same period last year, reaching $11.1 billion. The company’s net profit was $3.1 billion, driven by higher advertising revenue and subscription price increases.
