Denmark is bracing for a weekend of warm temperatures and unstable summer weather, with a risk of local cloudbursts in several regions. The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) has issued warnings for potential heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the country.
On Friday, the risk of intense downpours is particularly high, with the possibility of up to 35 millimeters of rain falling within just half an hour in localized areas. Meteorologists advise residents to be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.
While Friday began with haze and fog in some areas, it is expected to clear, giving way to sunshine. However, clouds and showers will develop throughout the day, potentially becoming heavy with thunder, increasing the likelihood of cloudbursts.
The areas under cloudburst warning include North Zealand and West Zealand, in addition to the previously issued warning for West, Mid, and South Jutland, and large parts of Funen. A cloudburst is defined as 15 millimeters of precipitation within a 30-minute period; some areas may experience even higher rainfall amounts.
Despite the threat of severe weather, temperatures are expected to be warm, reaching over 25 degrees Celsius in most parts of Denmark on Friday.
The unstable weather pattern is forecast to continue on Saturday, although the risk of heavy rain is slightly reduced. Saturday will feature a mix of sunshine and scattered showers, with a possibility of thunder. Temperatures are expected to range between 22 and 27 degrees Celsius over the weekend.
Sunday is expected to start with sunny conditions and light winds, but cloud cover will increase in the southwestern regions during the day, bringing rain. This pattern suggests a continuation of unsettled weather into the coming week.
