Police Investigation Launched at West Jutland Mink Farm Following Animal Welfare Concerns

An investigation is underway at a mink farm in West Jutland following reports of Animal Welfare Act violations. The Central and West Jutland Police, along with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, conducted an inspection of the farm on Wednesday.

Police Commissioner Mikael Gudiksen stated that no information about the outcome of the inspection can be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.

The action was initiated after two mink farmers were reported to the police for allegedly violating the Animal Welfare Act.

The reports stem from concerns raised by the animal welfare organization OASA, which alleges that the two individuals in question are among the largest mink breeding operators in the country.

OASA claims to possess photographic and video evidence, reportedly obtained through unauthorized entry onto the farm, depicting deceased mink in cages and mink exhibiting open wounds.

The police commissioner clarified that the primary basis for the investigation is the formal report itself, although visual evidence can provide a more immediate understanding of the situation.
