FC Copenhagen clinched their 16th Danish championship title on Sunday with a dominant 3-0 victory over FC Nordsjælland in the final round of the Superliga. The win, coupled with FC Midtjylland’s hard-fought 3-2 victory over Randers FC, secured the championship for FCK by a single point.
FCK’s lightning-fast start to the match quickly quelled any potential drama. Winger Elias Achouri scored in the opening minutes, giving the home crowd an early reason to celebrate. The Tunisian player received a pass from Victor Froholdt and fired a shot into the net.
FC Midtjylland took an early lead in their match against Randers with a goal from defender Kevin Mbabu. However, Randers responded with an equalizer on a penalty kick, scored by Simen Nordli.
The game saw a few injuries as FCK’s Cornelius was injured while shooting and replaced by Viktor Claesson. Gabriel Pereira also suffered a concussion after a collision. Kevin Diks, making a comeback from injury and playing his farewell match for FCK, replaced Pereira.
In the second half, FCK continued their strong performance, with Jordan Larsson scoring early after a pass from Achouri to make it 2-0. Diks then increased the lead to 3-0 with a penalty kick, securing the championship for Copenhagen.
Randers player Elies Mahmoud scored to make it 2-1 in the match against FCM, and Edward Chilufya scored twice for FCM in the final phase. The final whistle blew in Parken with FCK as champions, triggering celebrations among players and fans.
