Eastern High Court Experiences Lengthy Processing Delays

The Eastern High Court is currently facing significant delays, with several appealed criminal cases experiencing waiting times of over two years between the city court’s verdict and the high court’s review.

A case concerning serious crime involving the cloning of luxury cars, known as “Operation Dolly,” saw its verdict delivered by the Court in Helsingør on September 26, 2024. The appeal case is not scheduled to begin in the High Court until February 10, 2027.

Similarly, an attempted murder case involving gang activity, where the Copenhagen City Court handed down a life sentence on November 8, 2024, will not be heard in the High Court until March 2, 2027.

Leaders of a media company charged with fraud related to corona support, who received their verdict from the Copenhagen City Court on December 12, 2024, are scheduled to have their case heard by the High Court on October 27, 2027.

A social worker charged with abuse of position involving numerous unauthorized lookups on citizens, and who was acquitted by the Court in Lyngby on September 24, 2024, has an appeal scheduled for November 24, 2026, in the High Court.

A police officer charged with possessing photos of body parts, following a verdict from the Copenhagen City Court on January 31, 2024, will have their case reviewed by the High Court on February 3rd and 4th, 2026.

A businessman from Funen (Fynsk) charged with fraud amounting to six million, after the Court in Odense delivered its verdict on August 9, 2024, is facing a High Court appeal scheduled to begin on August 11, 2027.

A local politician charged with money laundering, subsequent to the Court in Hillerød’s verdict on March 1, 2024, will have their case taken up by the High Court on October 13, 2026.

Finally, a farmer charged with irresponsible treatment of pigs, whose verdict was delivered by the Court in Holbæk on June 12, 2024, has an appeal scheduled in the High Court for August 24, 2026.
