Copenhagen Police have arrested ten individuals suspected of trafficking cocaine in a case dubbed “white couriers.” The operation, which targeted what police are calling a “cocaine central,” resulted in the apprehension of suspects primarily residing in the Greater Copenhagen area, aged between 21 and 45.
The investigation indicates the group trafficked at least six kilograms of cocaine over a three-month period. The “white couriers” refer to individuals who deliver cocaine directly to customers, similar to food delivery services. Buyers contacted the central via SMS messages and encrypted services. The orders were then forwarded to the couriers for delivery.
Acting Police Commissioner Kasper Knudsen notes a concerning trend. The sale of cocaine is increasingly shifting from public spaces to social media and other platforms, making the trade more discreet. Knudsen also expressed concern about young people, particularly students, supplementing their income by working as “white couriers”. He emphasized the serious consequences and high penalties associated with drug offenses.
The arrested individuals are expected to appear in a preliminary hearing on Thursday. The prosecution will request closed doors at the hearing to protect the ongoing investigation.
