FC Copenhagen has signed Croatian national team goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski from Greek side PAOK, addressing the need to fill the void left by Diant Ramaj’s departure after his successful loan spell from Borussia Dortmund. The Superliga club announced the acquisition on its website, signaling a strategic move to strengthen their goalkeeping options.
Sports director Sune Smith-Nielsen emphasized Kotarski’s solid background, highlighting his training at Dinamo Zagreb and Ajax as crucial for developing a strong technical and tactical foundation. The 25-year-old goalkeeper’s experience in both national leagues and European tournaments further solidifies his credentials.
Kotarski’s ability to perform under pressure and in demanding club environments was also a key factor in the decision to bring him to FC Copenhagen. Smith-Nielsen believes that Kotarski’s qualities align well with the club’s culture and expectations. The sports director sees Kotarski as a player who can immediately contribute while still possessing the potential for further development.
Dominik Kotarski had been with PAOK since the summer of 2022 and has also been part of the Croatian national team, primarily as a substitute. While he mostly remained on the bench for the A-national team, the former U21 national team goalkeeper has earned two appearances at the senior level.
