A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and remanded in custody in connection with a shooting that occurred at a kiosk in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, on Sunday evening. Copenhagen Police announced the arrest on Friday and confirmed that a judge in the Copenhagen City Court ordered the boy to be held until July 21.
The police received a report of the shooting on Sunday at 9:24 p.m. The suspect, who was masked and dressed in all-black clothing, allegedly fired shots at the kiosk while riding a bicycle.
Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered at least one bullet hole in the facade of the building. Police are conducting technical investigations and gathering witness statements to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to duty officer Anders Frederiksen from Copenhagen Police, the initial assessment suggests that the perpetrator intended to shoot at the facade of the kiosk and not at any specific individual. The police have not released information regarding the boy’s connection to the case or the specific charges against him.
