A 37-year-old German man was arrested at the Roskilde Festival on Saturday night after being caught filming women urinating. He has confessed to the crime and is now facing charges of indecent exposure.
Police were alerted to the situation at 00:09 after a festival employee reported a suspicious man filming in the western inner square. The employee noticed the man carrying a shoulder bag with a hidden wildlife camera.
Upon being confronted, the man allegedly attempted to destroy the memory card from the camera. He broke the card and threw it away, but the employee recovered it and handed it over to the police.
Unfortunately for investigators, the man was successful in damaging the memory card to the point where its content could not be recovered.
This is not the first incident of its kind at the Roskilde Festival. In 2017, another German man was sentenced to 30 days in prison for filming up to 60 women urinating. In that case, the 49-year-old perpetrator had concealed a camera inside a modified beer can, complete with a drinking function. The prosecutor at the time described the contraption as a “pretty clever construction.” It was alleged that the 49-year-old was filming the women on behalf of someone else.
