Another Arrest Made in Copenhagen Hand Grenade Explosion Case

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hand grenade explosion that occurred a month ago in front of a Copenhagen nail salon. The arrest was made on Tuesday, shortly after 1 p.m., according to Copenhagen Police.

The suspect is accused of providing the hand grenade to a 31-year-old man, who is alleged to have detonated it. The explosion took place on the night of April 21st at approximately 3:10 a.m. near the intersection of Tomsgårdsvej and Frederikssundsvej in Copenhagen’s Northwest district.

The 31-year-old, an Iraqi national, has been in custody since late April and is charged with detonating the device. He faces charges of endangering the lives or limbs of others, though no one was injured in the incident. He denies the charges against him.

Prosecutors intend to seek a custody order for the 19-year-old Danish man. He is scheduled to appear in court in Frederiksberg on Wednesday morning.

Due to the prosecutor’s request for a closed-door hearing, police are withholding further details about the case, including the evidence against the 19-year-old. The police have also not disclosed a motive for the incident. It remains unclear how the 19-year-old relates to the charges.
