Users of Facebook and Instagram have a quickly approaching deadline of May 26th to opt out of having their publicly available images used by Meta to train its artificial intelligence models. This affects both past and future posts.
Several European consumer councils and supervisory authorities are expressing concerns about Meta’s plans. The Norwegian Consumer Council, along with other European councils, has formally communicated their opposition to Meta through a letter, urging the company to halt its AI training initiative using user data.
To prevent your images from being utilized in Meta’s AI training, users must actively inform Meta of their decision by the aforementioned deadline.
