A distressed dog was rescued from a small island in the Limfjord fjord Friday evening after swimming to the island. The North Jutland Emergency Service announced the rescue on social media.

Station Aalborg was called to assist with a boat to rescue the dog that had wandered onto the small island located between Egholm and Aalborg Airport. The emergency service sailed out on the fjord and rescued the dog from the island.

The mission was successful, and the dog is now being handed over to the police so that the owner can be found. It is not clear how the dog was discovered on the island or from where it originated.

Some dog breeds, such as Labrador Retrievers and Golden Retrievers, are known for being good swimmers; however, it is unknown if the rescued dog is one of these breeds.
