A 62-year-old man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for the rape of a female asylum seeker at an asylum center in Jelling. The Court in Kolding delivered the verdict on Friday, according to South East Jutland Police.

The convicted man, identified as Bijan Tubai Babazad, a social worker at the center, immediately appealed the verdict seeking acquittal. The rape occurred in the fall of 2023.

Following the verdict, the court ordered that the 62-year-old be remanded in custody. He has appealed this ruling to the High Court.
