Thomas Ahrenkiel will assume leadership of the Defence Intelligence Service (FE) starting September 1st. He previously held this position from 2010 to 2015.
The Ministry of Defence announced the appointment via press release. Ahrenkiel succeeds Svend Larsen, the acting head, who stepped in following the suspension of former head Lars Findsen.
Before his appointment, Ahrenkiel was a partner and European director at Macro Advisory Partners. His prior government experience includes serving as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence from 2015 to 2020. He has also held key roles in the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
