A fire that broke out at a nursing home in Suldrup, Himmerland, is now under control. North Jutland Police confirmed this on social media after emergency services worked to extinguish the flames throughout the afternoon.
The fire, which originated in the roof structure, led to the evacuation of all residents and staff. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Police had initially reported the blaze earlier in the day.
Authorities believe roofing work, including the use of torches on roofing felt, may have contributed to the fire, although the exact cause is still under investigation. The nursing home is owned by Rebild Municipality, which is working to relocate 15-20 residents to a previously closed facility.
According to the center manager for care and support, approximately one-third of the building is expected to be destroyed. North Jutland Emergency Services initially dispatched fire trucks from Støvring and Aars, later calling for additional support from Nibe and Aalborg. The initial alarm was raised at 13:31.
