Proposal for Earlier Work Departure for Parents with Young Children

Pia Olsen Dyhr, leader of SF, advocates for parents of young children to leave work earlier to alleviate the pressures of early parenthood and improve work-life balance. Dyhr highlighted the challenges faced by families with young children, comparing the experience to running a marathon.

The proposal aims to provide better support for families and ensure a smoother daily routine. Dyhr suggests allowing parents to leave work before 4:00 PM on certain days of the week, drawing a parallel to the Prime Minister’s assembly line analogy.

In addition to earlier departure times, SF has previously proposed the introduction of up to five days of paid sick leave for parents to care for their children. Dyhr reiterated the importance of this proposal, emphasizing that being home with a sick child should be a right, not a luxury. She believes that this measure would provide wage earners with the security they need when their children are ill, reflecting the realities of family life.
