Odense Håndbold secured the Danish Championship gold with a 33-31 victory over Team Esbjerg in the decisive final match, thanks in large part to Mie Højlund’s outstanding performance. The national team player proved to be a constant threat to Team Esbjerg throughout the intense game, ultimately helping Odense claim the title.
The match, held in Odense, was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams battling fiercely for the championship. Højlund expressed immense relief and joy after the victory, describing the season as long and intense, making the gold medal win at home even more special.
The turning point came in the final minute when Team Esbjerg’s Michala Møller threw the ball into Odense’s possession. With a one-point lead, Odense successfully maintained control, sealing their victory and dethroning Team Esbjerg, who had held the title for the past two seasons.
Møller, visibly upset after the loss, expressed her sadness, disappointment, and anger. Team Esbjerg will now look to next season for a chance to reclaim the Danish Championship.
