Man Sentenced for Negligent Manslaughter in Drug-Related Deaths

A 26-year-old man was sentenced to two years and six months in prison on Thursday for negligent manslaughter in connection to the deaths of two young women who died after he provided them with narcotics. The Court in Aarhus delivered the verdict.

The two women, aged 18 and 23, died in July and September 2023, respectively, after ingesting a fatal amount of pills, with one woman also using cocaine. The events transpired in the apartment of Mo Noury, located in Brabrand, where the women had been staying in the days leading up to their deaths.

Mo Noury admitted to selling pills to the women and others but denied pressuring them to take excessive amounts. “I didn’t put anything in anyone’s mouth. The girls chose to take it themselves,” he stated in court.

Initially, authorities charged Noury with murder, but the charges were reduced to negligent manslaughter under particularly aggravating circumstances and intentionally exposing the women to danger after a lengthy investigation and legal processing. He pleaded not guilty.

Special prosecutor Jesper Rubow described the case as deeply tragic, highlighting the loss of two young lives. “Professionally and legally, I am very pleased that the Court in Aarhus agreed with the prosecution’s assessment of the case,” he stated in a press release.

The surviving relatives of the women have been awarded compensation of approximately 113,000 kroner and 123,000 kroner, respectively.

Noury’s defender, Niels Lyhne, has confirmed that he will appeal the verdict to the Western High Court.
