Denmark’s largest bookstore chain, Bog & Idé, will sell former minister Henrik Sass Larsen’s new book online but does not plan to stock it in its physical stores due to anticipated low demand. The decision comes as Larsen faces charges of possessing child abuse material and a child doll constructed for sexual purposes, allegations he denies.
The book, titled “Setback,” is scheduled for release on Tuesday and is Larsen’s account of the case against him. Bog & Idé’s director, Marianne Lyngby Pedersen, stated that the book was recently listed on Bogportalen, a platform for booksellers and publishers.
Pedersen anticipates a distribution window of 7 to 15 days following the book’s release. This delay means the book is unlikely to appear in physical stores until at least a week after publication. She added, “The starting point is that I don’t think there is so much demand that it is a book that should come in and have space on our shelves.”
Saxo.com, Denmark’s largest online bookstore, will also offer the book for sale. However, director Jeppe Trier has confirmed that Saxo.com will not be purchasing the book for stock.
