Trial Begins in Murder Case of Jimmi Lillelund After Five Years

The trial in the murder case of 42-year-old Jimmi Lillelund, who disappeared more than five years ago, has begun at the Court in Roskilde. A 48-year-old woman and two men, aged 28 and 61, are charged in the case. The three defendants are protected by a publication ban, which prohibits the publication of information that could identify them.

Jimmi Lillelund was last seen on April 30, 2020. Initially, the police treated the case as a standard missing person case. Jimmi Lillelund was searched for in a lake near his sister’s farm in Gundsømagle, where he lived in rented accommodation before he disappeared. The area was also searched from the air using a helicopter, but to no avail.

It was not until June 2024 that the three were charged with the murder. They are charged with having jointly murdered Jimmi Lillelund by having previously agreed or “developed a common mutual understanding” that he should be killed. According to the indictment, the two accused men shot the 42-year-old several times, causing his death on the afternoon of the day Jimmi Lillelund disappeared.

During the following days, the two men, after prior agreement or common understanding with the woman, ensured that the 42-year-old’s body was burned and buried, according to the indictment. They are all three charged with improper handling of a corpse for this. They deny their guilt. The two men have pointed at each other as the one who shot and killed Jimmi Lillelund, while the woman has explained that she knew nothing.

Three legal judges and six jurors are expected to spend nine court days deciding whether the three should be convicted of murder. The last day is June 27.
