A comprehensive school meal trial is set to begin in one in eight schools starting in the 2025/26 school year. The Ministry of Children and Education announced the initiative, aimed at investigating the effects of school meals on children’s health, well-being, and learning.
The project, which will run until 2028, has been allocated 854 million kroner. The trial will involve different pricing models for the meals.
In certain schools, the food will be provided free of charge. However, in other participating institutions, the meals will cost either 15 or 25 kroner.
