A 35-year-old man is in critical condition after a traffic accident near Snejbjerg, close to Herning. The accident occurred Wednesday evening and involved a moped and a car.
The moped rider was transported to Aarhus University Hospital following the collision. Central and West Jutland Police reported that the accident took place at 10:51 PM Wednesday.
Preliminary investigations suggest the moped rider failed to yield at an intersection. He was struck by a 20-year-old driver. The driver was uninjured in the incident.
According to duty officer Simon Stage, the car driver was unable to avoid the collision. “He was hit directly from the side by the driver, who could not brake because the moped suddenly entered the intersection from the left. The collision therefore occurred at approximately 80 kilometers per hour,” he stated.
As of Thursday morning, the 35-year-old man remained in critical condition. Police confirmed the moped rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Authorities have stated that there is no indication of any wrongdoing by the car driver. No further details regarding the injured man’s condition are currently available.
