A 50-year-old man fatally shot his 42-year-old wife before taking his own life in Allerød on Wednesday evening. North Zealand Police duty officer David Buch confirmed the murder-suicide early Thursday morning.

The tragic incident has left two children orphaned, who are now under the care of social services and the wife’s family.

Police have notified the relatives of the deceased. The man used a pistol in both the murder and his subsequent suicide, according to authorities.
