Aalborg Handbold took the lead in the Danish Championship final series with a 26-22 victory over Skjern Handbold on Wednesday. Despite the loss, Skjern’s Jakob Rasmussen remains confident in his team’s ability to turn the series around.
Rasmussen acknowledged the team’s struggles in attack during the first game. He stated that they need to review their performance and make adjustments before the next match. He drew parallels between this situation and their semi-final series against GOG, where they also lost the first match but ultimately secured a place in the final with two subsequent victories.
Aalborg’s goalkeeper, Niklas Landin, played a crucial role in their victory. Patrick Wiesmach, another Aalborg player, highlighted Landin’s exceptional performance, noting how he consistently denied Skjern’s attempts when they managed to put pressure on Aalborg’s defense.
Aalborg now needs only a draw in the next match to secure the championship. The next game is scheduled for Saturday in Skjern. If Skjern wins on Saturday, the series will be tied. Aalborg would then have the advantage of playing the final match at home due to their first-place finish in the regular season.
