Aalborg Håndbold and GOG secured victories in their final playoff matches, positioning themselves favorably for the upcoming semi-finals of the Danish Championship (DM). Aalborg, the defending champions, maintained their undefeated streak with a 34-27 win over Mors-Thy, while GOG defeated Fredericia 31-28.
The results mean that Aalborg will face TTH in the semi-finals, while GOG will play against Skjern. The semi-final matchups see the group winners facing teams that concluded the playoff stage with less favorable results.
Skjern suffered a 26-30 defeat to Skanderborg AGF, and TTH played to a 29-29 draw against Bjerringbro-Silkeborg. Aalborg’s dominant performance throughout the playoffs, with five wins and one draw, makes them a formidable contender.
In their match against Mors-Thy, Aalborg asserted their dominance early on, leading 17-13 at halftime and extending their lead in the second half. Sebastian Barthold emerged as the top scorer, contributing eight goals.
The first semi-final matches are scheduled for May 25th.
