Three Danish men’s doubles teams have advanced to the second round of the Malaysia Masters Super 500 tournament after securing victories on Tuesday. The strong performance marks a positive start for Denmark in the competition.
World number one duo Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup lived up to expectations by defeating their Chinese opponents in straight sets, 21-10, 21-17. They are the defending champions of the tournament.
Earlier in the day, Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard, ranked 28th globally, achieved a surprising victory against the world number 12 pair from China, Chen Boyang and Liu Yi. The Danish team won a hard-fought match with scores of 27-25, 18-21, 21-16.
Rasmus Kjær and Frederik Søgaard also demonstrated their strength by defeating a Taiwanese pair in their match. The Danish favorites won convincingly with scores of 21-10, 21-14.
William Kryger Boe and Christian Faust Kjær continued their impressive form after reaching the final of the Thailand Open Super 500 tournament the previous week. They successfully navigated a qualifying match against a Malaysian pair to secure their place in the main tournament. Boe and Kjær are scheduled to face another Malaysian pair in the first round on Wednesday.
Should they win their first-round match, William Kryger Boe and Christian Faust Kjær are set to compete against their fellow countrymen, Rasmus Kjær and Frederik Søgaard, in the second round. Their recent final appearance has significantly boosted Boe and Kjær’s world ranking; they have climbed 25 places to reach the 50th position.
