Skjern Håndbold’s management mistakenly believed their participation in the Danish Championship final against Aalborg guaranteed them a spot in next season’s European club tournaments. This misunderstanding stems from confusion regarding DanskHåndbold’s criteria for European qualification.
Skjern director Carsten Thygesen expressed surprise, stating that the club had received congratulations on securing their place. He is urging a review of the qualification guidelines. Tournament manager Frank Smith from DanskHåndbold clarified that Skjern must win the Danish Championship to ensure European participation next season.
The Danish champion team automatically qualifies for the Champions League. The first Danish Championship final is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:30 PM in Aalborg.
