A new digital tool utilizing artificial intelligence has been launched by the Association of Danish Rectors to assist priests in writing texts for church services and funerals. This tool aims to provide inspiration for sermons, church letters, and teaching materials, drawing from a vast collection of sermon guides compiled over the past two decades.

The tool is designed to be a resource for dialogue, offering priests a starting point for their writing process. While many priests already use artificial intelligence in their work, this new tool is specifically tailored to the needs of Danish priests and trained in Lutheran theology.

Priests using the tool can select from three different AI options and even have the AI adjust the language in texts they have already written. Despite the assistance, the Association of Danish Rectors emphasizes the importance of careful review, acknowledging the possibility of errors.

However, not all members of the clergy are convinced of the tool’s value. Vicar Rasmus Nøjgaard expressed his reservations, finding the AI-generated texts too impersonal and filled with clichés.
