Despite the long football season coming to an end, 23 Danish players are committed to representing their national team in upcoming test matches against Northern Ireland and Lithuania. National coach Brian Riemer has praised the players’ dedication, highlighting the positive culture within the team.
Riemer noted that the players’ willingness to participate in these matches, even after a demanding season, speaks volumes about their commitment to the Danish national team. He contrasted this with other national teams, where players often withdraw when there are no crucial points at stake.
According to Riemer, only Andreas Christensen had to cancel due to a legitimate injury, demonstrating the squad’s overall availability and enthusiasm. The coach emphasized that the players are eager to play and have not expressed any concerns about playing two full 90-minute matches.
The team has already commenced training in Helsingør, with a schedule that includes intense sessions followed by a recovery day to accommodate the players’ physiological needs.
Riemer has also indicated that at least one of the four potential debutants – Filip Jörgensen, Anton Gaaei, Lucas Høgsberg, and Mathias Kvistgaarden – will be given the opportunity to play during these test matches. The team will face Northern Ireland in Parken and Lithuania in Odense.
