The Auditor General has issued a sharp rebuke of the Ministry of Defence for inadequate maintenance of its buildings, revealing a lack of oversight and planning.

The Ministry of Defence lacks a comprehensive understanding of the condition of many of its properties and has failed to implement a long-term maintenance strategy. Available funds allocated for maintenance have also not been fully utilized.

These shortcomings have resulted in unacceptable living conditions for personnel, including the presence of mould and malfunctioning sanitation facilities.

Over the past three years, the Danish Working Environment Authority has issued more than 100 orders to the Ministry of Defence, with a significant portion requiring immediate action. This underscores the severity of the issues identified.
